On October 6, 2003, the Carrboro Parks Project with the Town of Carrboro provided Anderson Park with a fenced-in dog park. The fence was originally requested by a Carrboro couple with a new puppy and the Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department. Carrboro Parks Project raised money through: donors including Doggie Spa and Day Care, Fortress Fencing, and many individuals; several grants, including the the Strowd Roses Foundation; and fundraisers like the Weaver Street Market Cookouts on the Lawn.
