On October 6, 2003, the Carrboro Parks Project with the Town of Carrboro provided Anderson Park with a fenced-in dog park. The fence was originally requested by a Carrboro couple with a new puppy and the Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department. Carrboro Parks Project raised money through individual contacts, Doggie Spa and Day Care, Fortress Fencing, several grants, the Strowd Roses Foundation, and fundraisers like the Weaver Street Market Cookouts on the Lawn.
