DISC gOLF PROJECT
Description:
In the Spring of 2009 Carrboro Parks Project completed its fundraising efforts, and a dedication was held at the Park on Saturday May 2. 2009.

Disc Golf is a southern staple and an up and coming sport for people of all ages and abilities. It is played on an 18 hole course, with baskets instead of holes, and flying discs ("frisbees") instead of a ball. Information on disc golf can be found at the Professional Disc Golf Association.

Carrboro Parks Project met Zach Ward's challenge grant of $4,200 to fund the new disc golf course at Anderson Park, thanks especially to the Carrboro and Regional Rotary Clubs as well as donations from the individuals and businesses within the community. A whopping check of over $10,000 was presented to the Board of Aldermen on April 21, 2009.

Brendan Moore and Matt Smith of the Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department led the clearing of small shrubs and debris along the course on Saturday, April 25th. A saintly crew from the Church of the Latter Day Saints, and families of the Rotary members provided over 50 pairs of hands, muscle power, and lots of sweat.
